  • Montelukast also helps prevent exercise-induced narrowing of the airways.
  • In asthma patients who are prescribed montelukast for asthma, montelukast can also provide relief from symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis.

How to give Airfast 5 mg chewable tablets:

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Dosage depends on your medical condition:

  • This medicine should be given to a child under adult supervision.
  • Chewable tablets or granules should not be taken immediately with food; they should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.
  • For children who have trouble taking chewable tablets, an oral granule formulation is available.
  • For children 2 to 5 years of age: One 4 mg chewable tablet (or 4 mg granules) daily taken in the evening.
  • For children 6 to 14 years of age: 5 mg chewable tablets are available.
  • The 4 mg chewable tablets are not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age.
  • Doses may change under special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
